574 Orphans in Uganda Need Your Love 24/7!
Harriet is six years old and has been at the orphanage since she was four. Harriet is her new Christian name we gave her when she was brought to the orphanage as a total orphan. She was raised by Muslim parents and her former name was Hadijah. Both Hadijah’s parents died from HIV/AIDS.
When Harriet became an orphan, her relatives could not take care of her because they already had responsibilities for their own children and had severe financial constraints.
She was brought to us by her grandmother because she was told about the orphanage that helps take care of orphaned children.
We accepted Harriet with the love of Jesus the moment she was brought to us! She felt lonely for a couple of months but with time she started making friends and became a part of the family. She now feels loved and is a happy child who loves to play with her best friend Janet. Harriet and Janet enjoy reading children’s story books. The Matron who oversees her group says she is very happy and feels safe at the orphanage, just like the other kids in her age group.
