Uganda is home to over 1 million orphaned children who have lost their parents to aids, disease, wars and refugee displacement. For many of these children, their option is to fend for themselves on the streets causing them to be vulnerable to trafficking, child labor or turn to crime to survive.
Your support for an orphan or vulnerable child at Impact Orphanage provides the love, resources and security for them to be on the path to having a successful future.
Today the spotlight is on 14 year old Jane who three years ago lost both parents in one month. The parents suffered from HIV and were bed ridden. Jane took up the responsibility of looking after her parents and 5 siblings. Each day she had hope that her parents would live. But upon the death of her parents Jane, then 11 years old, was left to head her family. Jane tells her story of how she tried her best but could only manage that responsibility for 2 months – then she gave up. She decided to move with her siblings and beg in the streets. That is when our staff at Impact Ministries Uganda met her and her siblings on a cold rainy day. They were taken to the orphanage and are now living happy together, receiving food, clothing, medical attention, education, housing and following Jesus. We are now faced with a great challenge of caring for 600 children at the orphanage. We are thankful to our sponsors who help us look after the most vulnerable. May God bless you all!
We continue to face many trials: locusts, flash floods, Corona Virus, as well as increased food and supply costs. We need your prayers and continued support.
During the Corona pandemic shutdown our budget has increased as everything has become expensive. We are also having to provide hand cleaning materials, masks and protective gear for our staff. Our medical clinic needs sufficient stocks of medicines.
We hope and pray that you will not grow weary of supporting this Christ focused ministry to the children in need!
Our churches are equally suffering as our members lack food. Our people live hand to mouth, no savings and no stimulus from government. People have to fend for their themselves and our pastors are lacking as churches are closed. We doing what we can to help them also.
We trust God as always, praying for God’s protection over you and your families.
